How long have you been working in PPC?
Over 6 years!
How did you get started in PPC?
I had a family member start a business and he needed help with paid ads. I gave it a shot and I fell in love.
If you went to college or university, what did you study? If not college, do you have any other degrees or certifications?
Studied Management Information Systems at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota.
I am also certified in search, shopping, display and video with Google.
What was your first job that involved PPC?
My first job was an internship at an agency that turned into a part time role managing various Google Ads campaigns for their clients.
What is your current position and how long have you been in it?
I currently own a paid media agency focused on paid ads. The majority of our work is on Google and we also do Facebook, Bing and Linkedin Advertising,
I have been the founder/CEO for about two years now.
What kinds of things do you currently handle or manage in PPC?
Mainly Google search and paid media strategy. Working with B2B and B2C. Mainly lead gen and some E-commerce.
Has your career path had any hiccups or nontraditional aspects that you’d like to share?
No major hiccups!
What are you most proud of in your PPC career?
How fast I have leveled up. I went from managing accounts spending just $3-5k per month, to accounts spending millions of dollars each month. The more I challenged myself, the better I became.
What, if anything, do you wish you could “do over” in your PPC career?
Nothing. I have learned so much on this journey and I can’t think of any regrets.
If you could give advice to someone either considering or just starting out in PPC, what would that be?
Focus on one channel to start. Become an expert. Then expand into other areas and overall paid media and marketing strategy.
Become niche. Find a way to stand out in the crowd of PPC experts.
