How did you get started in PPC?
I failed miserably at everything else ๐
I started my marketing career in SEO which, at the time, I believe to be far superior to PPC. Why pay for traffic when you can get it for free?
We used Google Ads as a simple test to see which terms would ultimately be the most valuable. But, over time, SEO got harder and less scalable and we got better and better at Google Ads.
If you went to college, what did you study? If not college, do you have any other degrees or certifications?
I went to UNM for 9 horrible weeks.
I’m Google Ads certified (obviously) and have all of the DigitalMarketer.com certifications.
What was your first job that involved PPC?
Marketing a website builder we created called SiteAmaze.com
I sold one website for $350 ๐

Has your career path had any hiccups or nontraditional aspects that youโd like to share?
Yup. I went dead broke (like, sneaking into Costco to eat the weekend freebies was my lunch broke) after the real estate collapse and had a really tough road getting back on my feet.

Embrace it sooner and niche down sooner.
If you could give advice to someone either considering or just starting out in PPC, what would that be?
Trust the data, not your gut.
