How long have you been working in PPC?
4 years.
How did you get started in PPC?
Prior to the pandemic, I was a chef and media personality. The situation prompted me to explore how to market and advertise myself more online. I bought a coaching course on Instagram marketing, which led me to discover pay-per-click (PPC) advertising on YouTube. With this newfound knowledge, I applied for a position at a 3rd party company with a Google Pod contract and was hired as a Senior Google Ads Strategist in an entry-level sales role. Google had their onboarding staff train us and monitor us at all times to maintain their standards as indirect hires.
If you went to college or university, what did you study? If not college, do you have any other degrees or certifications?
I actually went to Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School and Film School for production and video editing. I’m currently going back to specialize in VFX and CGI.
What was your first job that involved PPC?
After leaving the Google program my first PPC job was for an unethical Full Service Ad Agency.
What is your current position and how long have you been in it?
I have since left both Google’s program and the Ad Agency job in 2022 and opened my own Google Ads Consulting Company which is slowly migrating into a Micro Ad Agency . We have made clients over $10 million in revenue since our inception and we continue to make a name for ourselves.
What kinds of things do you currently handle or manage in PPC?
Personally, I handle strategy, audits, consulting, sales and onboarding with Research Analytics and Google Ads Campaigns setup. I write ALL the ads myself.
I also do the content creation for our company and my personal brand.
My lead does optimization, account management and tech development with Google Ads Repair.
Has your career path had any hiccups or nontraditional aspects that you’d like to share?
Absolutely, with the sudden deaths of both my sisters in 2023 and my biggest client going in house with his ads, I fell apart and dismantled the entire agency and built another company by becoming a brand owner. I now have a floral and candle shop which grew quickly into two physical locations and stepping into the e-com side in the fall to make the products available for nationwide shipping. On top of all of this I felt stronger to come back and rebuild my Ad Agency and offer a comprehensive Google Ads Course to come out in 2025. This course is everything I learned at Googles training program and taught in the exact style they taught us. The training, the experience from my past clients and the format is nothing like what I’ve seen yet so this should put me on the map.
What are you most proud of in your PPC career?
I took the leap and became self-employed. Once I saw the real world of PPC and the behind-the-scenes operations at Google, I knew I could make a difference in the industry as an ethically run consultant. So, I did.
What, if anything, do you wish you could “do over” in your PPC career?
Nothing. What happened to me and my agency had nothing to do with my abilities. My hiccups are due to death and grieving. If anything, I would have spent more time with them in those final months.
I have loved my PPC journey so far. Wouldn’t change a thing.
If you could give advice to someone either considering or just starting out in PPC, what would that be?
Learn it and then shadow someone else. Find an entry level position that is on a teaching team which can be hard to do but not impossible. I don’t advise to ever handle accounts alone if you are self taught.
Are you interested in speaking opportunities? If so, what topics are your jam?
Yes, I do a lot of speaking opportunities.
I prefer to only speak on Entrepreneurship, Being an Agency Owner, content marketing strategy for personal branding and development.
I spend a lot of my days on PPC topics and prefer that others are made aware of all that I am involved with other than PPC all the time.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I am accepting clients again at my full-service, 24/7 ad agency, which sets us apart in the industry. I’m also excited to announce a comprehensive collection of courses launching in 2025. These intense courses are divided into sections to make them manageable for those with no prior knowledge. By the end of my Google Ads Academy training, participants will be equipped to excel in any entry-level position.
I designed these courses based on my experience at Google, where I became very successful after just 10 weeks of training. I meticulously saved every note and slide from my classes. With real-world experience and case studies, I have created a true Google Ads Academy. This is something the industry truly needs.
Where can people find you to connect (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)?
I am only on LinkedIn for Google Ads.
I’m on Instagram for film production and marketing my floral and candle brand. Ask.Falan is my IG handle.
