How long have you been working in PPC?
I have been working in PPC for about 5 years now.
How did you get started in PPC?
I got started in PPC in college. My last internship had a very strong focus on Google Search. This is where I got my foundations in paid search and paid social.
If you went to college, what did you study? If not college, do you have any other degrees or certifications?
I went to college, and I studied Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.
What was your first job that involved PPC?
My first job that involved PPC was an internship, and then I got hired on as a Paid Digital Specialist at National Vision Inc.
What is your current position and how long have you been in it?
I’m currently Director, Digital Marketing at Nationwide Marketing Group. I was promoted to this position a year ago.
What kinds of things do you currently handle or manage in PPC?
I currently manage a team of 5 digital marketing specialists and we do all things Google (search, display, shopping, etc) for our members. We also manage paid social on FB/IG, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.
Has your career path had any hiccups or nontraditional aspects that you’d like to share?
I had kids at a younger age than most do, so that part was and is still challenging. This definitely isn’t a hiccup though, I love my wife and 2 boys!
What are you most proud of in your PPC career?
I think moments I’m most proud of are when my team and I can make a genuine difference in our members’ businesses.
What, if anything, do you wish you could “do over” in your PPC career?
I wish I started Paid Search Weekly way sooner. I truly enjoy writing about paid search topics. As I research, I am constantly learning and that helps with my day job as well.
If you could give advice to someone either considering or just starting out in PPC, what would that be?
If I could give advice to someone considering or just starting in PPC I would tell them to read digital marketing articles, books, etc. everyday, and to be prepared to be a lifelong learner.
