Platform Layoffs & PPC – How to Navigate the Bumpy Road – January 24, 2023

This week’s chat was hosted by Julie Friedman Bacchini and the topic was “Platform Layoffs & PPC – How to Navigate the Bumpy Road.”

Questions

We talked in November about “Managing PPC When Tech is Melting Down” and are picking up on that theme this week with all the layoffs.

Q1: Are you concerned about all of the layoffs happening in the tech space in general and at ad platforms specifically? If so, what are you concerned about the most? If not, why not?

Q2: Is there any platform you are most concerned about, to the point where you are reevaluating strategy? What about that platform(s) is most concerning?

Q3: Are you doing anything proactively to help clients or stakeholders understand and contextualize what is happening in tech and at ad platforms?

Q4: Are clients or stakeholders concerned about the state of tech? Have they brought the topic up to you? If so, what are they focused on?

Q5: Do you have any plan in place for yourself or your agency for the coming part of the business cycle where brands will tend to let in-house staff go and look to outsource?

Same Q for in-house folks.

Hello incredibly dramatic & over the top Google Ads alert.

One low-performing keyword can HARM MY WHOLE ACCOUNT?

This is a ridiculous alert. What kind of language is that to describe having low CTR keywords in an account?

Still looking for examples of Google Ads Led Forms opening on a Google hosted page that appears to be on the destination host domain.

#ppcchat Does anyone us Lead Form Extensions & have seen the experience change recently? Looking for any documentation. Current experience hijacks the click with display url of domain/form instead of having it as a serp option INSTEAD of clicking to site.
