Here is a great answer from Kirk Williams:
A4: We turn down project opportunities at least weekly, sometimes more often. Client fit is really important to us, as is growing in a stable manner. The key is to say no clearly, but politely. A few things I’ve learned: #ppcchat

2) people really get offended when they’re turned down by an agency. I have opinions on why that is, but the sooner you realize you might get yelled at when you politely say no, the sooner you’ll realize that yelling just confirmed they would have been a bad fit. #ppcchat

4) the more pre-filtering questions, and the longer your discovery process, the easier it is to turn prospects down. Learn as much as you can before promising a proposal or pricing. Have a great process with really good questions for determining fit quickly. #ppcchat

6) Finally, refine your gut instinct over the years and then trust. your. gut. Every single bad client we’ve let slip through in the past few years, I knew they were going to be bad from the very beginning, I just didn’t listen to my gut. Trust it! I’m done now π #ppcchat
